# Motion for Claude

> Connect Claude to Motion medium for code-based motion graphics and saved projects

Connect Claude to your Motion account to compose and revise motion graphics from code, read your chats, and retrieve saved exports.

The connector supports Motion medium. It can animate shapes, typography, layouts, and transitions, then render that code as a downloadable video. Creation and revision use your existing Motion credits.

AI image generation, AI video generation, music, audio, sound effects, and voiceovers are available in the [Motion app](https://motion.so). These features cannot run through this connector. Manage subscriptions, credit purchases, and automatic top-ups in the app.

## Connect

You need a Motion account. In Claude's connector settings, add this remote MCP URL:

```text theme={null}
https://mcp.motion.so/mcp/anthropic
```

Complete OAuth sign-in and consent. The connector uses Dynamic Client Registration and PKCE S256. A Motion API key or an OAuth token for the general `/mcp` endpoint will not work here.

For Claude Code:

```sh theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http motion https://mcp.motion.so/mcp/anthropic
```

Open Claude Code, run `/mcp`, and sign in to Motion.

## Try it

Ask: “Show the Motion connector features and available engines.” The connector reports Motion medium and explains which features require opening the app.

To create a project, ask: “Create a four-second 16:9 animation from code with a navy background, a white circle, and the text ‘Quarterly update’. Use Motion medium. Do not generate any media assets.”

To revise that project, ask: “Change the circle to mint green and the title to ‘Quarterly update · revised’. Keep the four-second duration.” You can revise projects created through this connector. It cannot revise projects created through another Motion workflow.

To retrieve saved work, ask: “List my Motion chats and show the saved exports for this project.” Reading chats and exports does not spend credits. Download links expire after one hour; ask for the saved export again to get a fresh link without re-rendering.

## Access and troubleshooting

The connector reads your Motion chats, messages, job statuses, and saved exports. It can create and revise code-based projects using existing credits. It cannot purchase credits, charge your payment method, change billing, enable automatic top-ups, or administer API keys.

If authentication fails, reconnect using the exact connector URL above. If creation fails because you have insufficient credits, open Motion to manage your balance. Other engines and effort levels are unavailable through this connector.

## Claude API

The Claude API caller handles Motion OAuth sign-in and token refresh. Use a bearer token issued for the exact connector resource.

```text theme={null}
Obtain a Motion OAuth access token for the exact resource https://mcp.motion.so/mcp/anthropic. Use Dynamic Client Registration and PKCE S256; request mcp, motion:sessions:read, and motion:sessions:write. A Motion API key or a token for the general /mcp endpoint cannot be used here.
Only Motion medium is supported. Generative media features require opening https://motion.so. Your application must handle OAuth sign-in and token refresh.
